This is where it starts, youtube videos and dreadlocks. The next thing you know this guy is going to be dropping flaming volkswagens on people and hanging out with shady transgenic dolphins.

Democracy is a dead word. Lets just call it a two party corporate/banking conglomerate and be done with it.

May as well.

a benevolent dictaorship is always the most effective form of government

garcet71283 - 2011-08-29

But a malevolent dictatorship is better at getting shit done.

baleen - 2011-08-28

Noooo.... Dictator was very "selective" about who got what in Dictatorship A. He did not have a happy Norwegian safety net propped up by oil, and it pisses me off that liberals are continuing to entertain the notion that Lionel Richie was a benevolent dictator.

Also, what he's talking about is what led to Quaddafi in the first place (remember the J. P. Getty saga): The partitioning of oil resources by foreign powers. All we want is stability and the oil to flow. This is not Iraq Pt 3.

How the Dutch treat Nigeria has nothing to do with this. Fuck the Dutch.

It's moments like this I wish Sephirock was back.

Cogent political analysis, coming to you live from some guy's kitchen!

His point is sort of valid, but "Country A" creates a false dilemma of benevolent dictatorship or Royal Dutch Shell fucking over the Niger River Delta.

There is no such thing as Country A; your argument is invalid.

This guy understands the economics of war, but what he really needs to do is say, "Who gives a fuck about Libya? Their dictator, their problem." As an anti-war intellectual, his job is to convince people that they don't benefit from these military adventures. Attempting to rehabilitate a dime-a-dozen tinpot dictator is intellectual quicksand. It's irrelevant to the main point and and always leads to an impenetrable wall of feigned righteous indignation.

Also interesting that he is using the same logic to NOT go to war with Gaddafi that conservatives used to NOT go to war with Suharto. Gaddafi is fighting the communists, I mean, al Qaeda. It's too complicated to get involved. Besides, Suharto, I mean Gaddafi, is a benevolent dictator who does good things for the country and saying otherwise is just propaganda by the Hilary Clinton industrial-war-machine.

Just listen to Chinese and Russian newsmedia guys, they know what's going on.
