When an NC newspaper called Hollar to comment on the video, he denied that it existed and removed it from YouTube while the reporter was on the phone with him, but as the reporter had the video buffered already, he mirrored it. Hollar then made a video completely lying about what he had said in this video, and then saying he was going to "sue" the paper for defamation. The Observer then put up the original (this) video, after which Hollar withdrew from the senate race and apologized saying it was a "joke taken out of context."
Oddly, he was running as a Democrat despite being closely linked to the massively racist Christian Identity movement and being a vocal fan of Ron Paul.
