She's got 99 problems and a husband ain't one!

Cuz SHE KILLED HIM!

Fucking bitch.

Change - 2013-01-30

Kurt Cobain was a heroin addict who treated people like shit, and wore his pyjamas out in public.

Hs music is generic 4/4 rock fare. If the depth of his lyrics were a puddle, he couldn't have drowned himself in it. Today, he would not be an idol, he would have a Youtube channel consisting of songs he can cover of the guitar, angry proclamations about how fast food uniforms are anti-feminist, and videos about his kitten.

He'd probably have some gun porn on there too.

Fuck Kurt Cobain, he was a fucking wanker, and his best song was a rape fanfic.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-01-30

Kurt Cobain was a good musician, and then he killed himself.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-01-30

I like Courtney Love, but she hasn't always been awesome, and this is an incoherent cell phone vid.

bongoprophet - 2013-01-30

I like all people

jangbones - 2013-01-30

this needs to be repeated every few years...Kurt Cobain almost singlehandedly saved American culture from the absolute wasteland of the early nineties (see Michael Bolton, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Roxette, etc.)

Nirvana spearheaded one of the last meaningful spurts of rock n roll, a once-vibrant and vital music form that is now dying

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-30

Singlehandedly, eh?

Void 71 - 2013-01-30

Aside from a few of the first generation bands, grunge ended up being every bit as terrible as hair metal. Collective Soul and Candlebox were no better than Warrant and Great White. Trading hair spray for flannel shirts didn't make the music more genuine. It was still coming from the same place, marketed by the same people.

As far as who killed hair metal, I'd argue that bands like Metallica, Faith No more, Pantera and Megadeth had a pretty big hand in that. I also think that grindcore had an effect. A lot of kids like me forgot all about Poison when we discovered the heavier stuff, and this was years before grunge.

memedumpster - 2013-01-30

I liked Nirvana. I got over it, but I did at the time. I still like Soundgarden though, oh, and Monster Magnet. I've never been opposed to having pop favorites.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-30

Megadeth and Friends might have won over hair metal's hardcore fanbase, but hair metal's casual audience - i.e. everyone who wasn't a total nerd - didn't bite.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-30

Just to be clear, I say "nerds" with the utmost respect. I'm a total metalfag, too, so I know how it is.

il fiore bel - 2013-01-30

I dunno who killed who...

...but to this day, I still think Nirvana sucks :D

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-30

Babes In Toyland have really gone downhill.

Rosebeekee - 2013-01-30

Apparently they're making a film based on her Mary-Sue manga.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-01-31

Apparently?

EvilHomer - 2013-01-30

"Today, he would not be an idol, he would have a Youtube channel consisting of songs he can cover of the guitar, angry proclamations about how fast food uniforms are anti-feminist, and videos about his kitten."

I know you meant that to be a WICKED BURN against Kurt Cobain, but LITTLE DO YOU KNOW, that's exactly how he would have wanted it! That's precisely how it should have been. Ah, cruel fate, if only the Kurtmeister had been born a decade later...

fedex - 2013-01-30

I remember when Cobain offed himself, the media coverage went into 24/7 overdrive and they kept comparing over and over it to when John Lennon died. MTV kept droning on and on about how it was "our generations Lennon" and tearful grungy teens were shown laying flowers on some dirty Seattle street corner while thousands more stood weeping in the rain with sputtering candles.

I wanted to throw my TV out the window.

Cobain was a self-centered junkie who took his own life and wrote hopeless but catchy songs about rape, depression and addiction. Lennon was gunned down by a killer after writing some of the most beloved, uplifting songs on the planet that will live on forever. But they WOULD NOT FUCKING SHUT UP ABOUT IT FOR WEEKS, like by dying Saint Cobain had transcended all his fuck-uppery and become this martyr for a generation of slacker kids. Courtney was like Mary Magdalene to Cobains' fucked-up martyred messiah and man, did she ride that horse for all it was worth. Two selfish children who deserved each other.

So, to summarize: fuck that shit.

boggy84 - 2013-01-30

john lennon was a shitty deadbeat dad and a wifebeater. fuck him. writing good songs does not make you a good person as you're trying to demonstrate with cobain but then going back in and putting a shitty asshole on a pedestal.

fedex - 2013-01-30

yeah well call it what you want but I'd rather have my kid emulate Lennon than Cobain any day.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-30

Fedex, I relt like that about it at the time too, because I was 14 years old and listened to Frank Zappa and the Butthole Surfers and was all edgy, but I eventually, you know, got out of the house and got laid and got exposed to more good music and got over myself.

Kurt Cobain was a really good pop musician who was successful yet also maintained some artistic integrity, and those are rare.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-30

I can't think of a single other one from his generation. Prince is a little too old.

fedex - 2013-01-30

OZ, I was 25 at the time and way over myself.

Also, Prince predates Cobain by about 15 years.

And if you want to talk about the "artistic integrity" of that generation...

EvilHomer - 2013-01-30

Dude, you're OLD.

Kids today, with their Nirvanas and Teen Spirits, sure is some kinda racket ain't it gramps?

fedex - 2013-01-30

Haha, no shit sherlock, and someday you will be too, sooner than you think.

StanleyPain - 2013-01-30

Courtney Love lured Kurt Cobain away from meaningful rehab with the promises of drugs knowing they would likely kill him because she was aware of his plans to likely divorce her and take custody of their daughter, whose life she then proceeded to fuck up by being a gross junkie whore who managed to burn through millions of dollars and what little goodwill was given to her to the point where now she has been ruled so financially incompetent that her daughter has now been given all of the Cobain estate rights to prevent Love from using them to finance her debt any further.

She murdered her husband for money, but I guess cuz she can slur out a song and finger a guitar that makes her totally different than all the other people who murdered their own spouses for money and custody.

Crackersmack - 2013-01-30

Dude; Hole gave the world at least one pretty fucking awesome rock album, so whatever.

Plus Kurt didn't need her to be all fucked up. They were/are both pretty fucked up people. You don't need to have your shit together to be awesome, especially when it comes to music.

Monty Cantsin - 2013-01-30

Woman is the nigger of the world.

kingarthur - 2013-01-30

Some submitter name - video subject synergy happening here.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-30

She sounds more sober/clean than I would expect! Good for you Ms. Love.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-01-30

I've always found the Nirvana fanboy hatred for Courtney Love hilarious. Thanks to everyone here for keep said hilarity alive for all these years.

Cobain killed himself, and as much as you want to blame it on Love, she didn't do it. Hell, have you listened to her talk? She's too fucking stupid to pull off the elaborate "trick him into killing himself" theories floating around here.

Courtney Love murdered Kurt Cobain no more than Bobby Brown murdered Whitney Houston.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-01-31

You guys are really pretentious about your incredibly shitty tastes in music.
