Eh, you make fun, but there were enough great games there to occupy me in 96/97

Playstation got off to a bumpy start. In 1996-1997, you really were better off with an N64.

Kid Fenris - 2013-05-26

I dunno. By the end of 1996, the PlayStation had Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal 2, Madden, Tekken 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Suikoden. The Nintendo 64 had Super Mario 64 and, well, maybe Wave Race.

EvilHomer - 2013-05-25

Still better than Xbox One.

That's setting the bar really low.

Riskbreaker - 2013-05-25

Could you order a pizza with your n64? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Old_Zircon - 2013-05-25

One of my college professors did the sound for Cruisin' USA. That's not necessarily a point in its favor.

roofle - 2013-05-25

At least it wasn't Cruis'n Exotica

Koda Maja - 2013-05-26

Cruisin', yeeeeeaaaaah!

I don't have time to watch them all, but I have such fond memories of all these games. So much Pizza Hut and Mountain Dew and hanging out with your friend whose parents bought him one when it came out until (gasp) midnight! I wish I was 14 again. Oh wait.. actually I don't.. I wish I still had an N64 though.

Once they got into what they were spending on advertising... it just boggled my mind.

.3 Million in TV spots on that Ken Griffey Jr. game? How come I never heard of that game? Oh, they dropped .2 million in showcasing two Virtual Boy games. Holy crap that's just amazing.

StanleyPain - 2013-05-26

The N64 was pretty fucking sweet that first couple years. The PSX is probably the greatest come back in the history of game consoles.....it's first year was pretty rough, if not a complete joke.

Then that weird reversal where PSX just picked up so much steam and got so many awesome games while N64 sort of languished....

Aubrey McFate - 2013-05-26

CDs were easier to produce and could hold more data and from what I've heard Nintendo treated it's third parties like shit. I'm betting that first year was Nintendo riding off of it's reputation while companies started migrating to Sony for all the reasons mentioned.

Was I the only one who thought body harvest was a great game?

Because the concept and the unique gameplay made it for me. The execution kind of fell flat though.

Never got past Java. Innovative game but the graphics were so bad it made it difficult. I still look back at it fondly.
