I seriously doubt they were allowed to show any sort of exuberance or excitement over the show, similar to when Russia allowed Western rock bands into the country in the 1980s for image purposes, but basically tortured/murdered anyone who actually appeared to have fun at their concerts.
They kinda suck pretty bad these days. They've been kinda steadily downhill since they decided to drop their serious dry humor tone of being some mysterious quasi-fascist representatives of a fictional country (NSK) and embraced this self-referential, wink-to-the-audience-on-social-media thing. They're very openly silly now and it seems to have had a major impact on the quality of their music.
I agree, their new music is pretty bad from what I've heard, but I will always love them for their older albums and I think them playing N.K. is interesting in and of itself.
I turned out becoming drinking buddies with an Eastern European studies prof who was really close friends with Laibach. I originally took the class as a filler because it was mostly movies (mostly Emir Kustarica), simple history and pointing out countries on maps, but he also showed a whole bunch of Laibach music videos, many of which I cannot find anywhere on Youtube.
