It's neat, but they've had facial mapping software like this for years. The faces generated by this one certainly look good, and I'm all for ever-more realistic facial mapping (Facebook-friends-into-porno, full speed ahead!) but fundamentally it's not that different from what hardworking CGI nerds can already do.

baleen - 2015-12-09 This is novel in that they import massive libraries of faces that can be used interchangeably. The software intuitively captures the facial structures of the individuals, so it's not just mapping with pingpong balls for Avatar. This really is Running Mannish.
Before with just plain mapping, Tom Hanks' face would freakishly emulate the facial movements of an Ian McKellen video, whereas with this, the personality and feel of the face is contextualized with the library of Hanks imagery, so it retains his Hanksiness.
