I was friends with Tom Skerritt's son in middle school, and he had both an Amiga and a toaster. I was so fucking jealous of everything about that guy. He stopped talking to me after the girl we both liked became my girlfriend in 9th grade.
Amiga deprived growing up. I'm amazed at how advanced this thing was compared to our Packard Bell 286 our family had. It wouldn't be until the mid 90s when Pentiums, 3D video cards, and soundcards that the PC would surpass the Amiga in the graphics and sound department. That thing was well ahead of its time.
Back when computer game boxes showed screenshots from multiple versions, the wide eyed amazement when I saw the graphics, followed by the crushing disappointment when I realized I was looking at the Amiga screen and not the shit C64 (mine) one :(
I had a 386 from '95 to about '99. Then a terrible Compaq till about 2002.
Bucharest had some legit importers of modern stuff but it was really really expensive for the average Ion. So most people had shit obsolete office PCs that you could get for cheap from guys who made trips to the West.
Never heard of Amiga till I started watching these kinds of videos on youtube.
I feel a little jealous of you guys for having been there back in the day.
