I was wondering why there was a lion in with the Care Bears and then I remembered that strange expansion of the product line into full furry-philia with the introduction of the various other animals beyond just the bears.
I also love that the Care Bears' superpower was a highly concentrated beam of guilt trip. I felt right at home as a Catholic school kid.
So many 80s and 90s cartoons had these attempts at life-lessons in them. Sometimes it came off as cheesy and laughable, other times it came off as creepy and bizarre.
There ARE episodes near the end of the Nelvana run where the Care Bears live amongst dinosaurs. I'd say that's foreshadowing, but this is after the series of episodes where the Care Bears rip off Star Trek.
