My wife and I recently spent a year living in a van while traveling around north america. Gotta say that sleeping anywhere with lots of people driving in and out is the worst. By the end of the year, I got to be the google maps master. The best places are hiking trail-head parking and country graveyards. In cities, look for dead end streets next to parks or warehouses. The worst places are well-to-do residential neighborhoods. You'll get the cops called in a jiffy by a nosy, yuppy soccer mom. the more ghetto the hood, the more respectful and out-of-your-business people are.
