Nintendo is a toymaker. Always has been, always will be.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Cena_mark - 2018-01-20 Their recent consoles have all been baby toys.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2018-01-20 I've played the big titles of 2017 besides EA's drivel, and Shadow of War is the only one that had lootboxes.

But... children come from WOMEN.
WOMEN ARE RUINING GAMING.

SolRo - 2018-01-20 DQL walking on that 3DGE again.
cognitivedissonance - 2018-01-20 Oh maaaaaaan you guys KNOW ME. Just assume I’m always being sarcastic.
Xenocide - 2018-01-20 Because of WOMEN GAMERS, God of War 12 no longer includes that minigame where you rape and disembowel your own daughter. Even though the story makes it clear that she deserved it for how she was dressed. Thanks, HILLARY.

poorwill - 2018-01-21 cognitivedissonance: Sorry, that was directed at dairyqueenlatifa.

I have no idea what this is supposed to be, which means kids will love it.

No cardboard R.O.B. = NO DICE, NINTENDO!
Born in the RSR - 2018-01-20
This looks fun and it has the added bonus of being made of carboard, making it cheap, disposable and recyclable.
SolRo - 2018-01-20 Well, disposable and recyclable at least
badideasinaction - 2018-01-20 Yep. Also gives other developers some ideas for using the joycons in ways besides “attach it to a plastic gun”
SolRo - 2018-01-20 It's not like Nintendo is known for underpricing their toys.
And the software value really remains to be seen...are they just small, short mini games or is each a full blown complex game that provides hours of non-repetitive gameplay?
ie, will it be 10 dollars worth of games with 60 dollars of cardboard or 50 dollars of games with 20 dollars of cardboard?

If nintendo was smart they'd also put out switch controlled cardboard cat toys. They'd be able to make money at the rate of which god has never seen.

Maggot Brain - 2018-01-20
What kid is going to have the patience to assemble a cardboard piano?
SolRo - 2018-01-20 The kind that has a patient and caring parent helping them assemble it as a bonding experience?
I don't know where you get those, so just hypothetically.
Maggot Brain - 2018-01-20 In my family this ends with my mom yelling.
SolRo - 2018-01-22 You had parents that actually tried things before giving up and yelling? You spoiled brat. I just got the yelling

This would've been the best thing ever for me when I was 10. Good on Nintendo for making a toy that requires more know-how than simply opening a box and putting a disc in.
The current generation (millennial's kids) really struggles with the arts and crafts stuff that came very naturally when I was a kid. I can speak from experience having worked with kids on a regular basis for about 15 years, the skill set is getting worse and worse for these sorts of activities.
I sure hope they can handle this and it succeeds.
cognitivedissonance - 2018-01-21 It seems cool, but what is needed is a Mario Paint that is fully updated to Youtube upload functionality. That would dominate.
