Sometimes they're dogs. Sometimes they're lizards. Sometimes they're lizard-dogs.

SolRo - 2023-02-02 Where did the dog kobold variant originate?
I remember EverQuest using dog humanoids as kobolds.

Gmork - 2023-02-03 I remember references in baldur's gate 1 which iirc is based on 3.0 or 3.5 I think. "Dog-like creatures yipping" is a phrase that seems to be floating around in my head from what I think was a little text narration in the mines

Gmork - 2023-02-03 I accept any variation as canon, and I forgot entirely that some stuff refers to them as a draconic related race. Makes sense

Juice Eggs McKenna - 2023-02-04 They were lizard-dogs in BECMI, not sure about BX, the draconian stuff was either introduced in 3.x or 4th. If it's in PF it was probably 3.x.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-02-05 I recall kobolds being described as lizardy dog people in the 1980s edition of D&D.
I have a pretty clear picture in my head of a scaly dude with a dog face (complete with floppy ears) spearing a giant snake.
They were only monsters back then, not a playable race.
