Lurchi - 2008-07-18
He should apologize for "Falling Down." (And everything else he's ever done.)
Lurchi - 2008-07-18 You're right, you're right. It's a special movie, for special people.
mr666 - 2008-07-18 Lurchi clearly is a fucking retard.
jangbones - 2008-07-18 Falling Down is boring, clumsy, obvious crap that has hypnotized a bunch of slow dinks who try to post FIRST on Aint it Cool News forums. Worship of this film makes no sense to me and never will.
In other news, Schumacher's first Batman film (number 3 I think) was the best of the series by far. It was everything the other Batman films should have been, far better than the posturing, unenjoyable Burton films.

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-18 With a side of BDSM. The oft-discussed nipples-on-the-batsuit thing is the most obvious, but did you notice he never missed an opportunity to flash each individually molded bat-buttcheek?
Jeff Fries - 2008-07-18 jangbones, you should really watch Batman Forever again sometime. It probably has a bright future as a cult classic along the lines of Forbidden Planet or Logan's Run, but mainly because it is in such poor taste - neon everywhere, overuse of close-ups and zooms, terrible batman performance, degrading and pointless redesign of his costume and toys - yet it somehow holds together where B&R falls apart. Try this clip on for size:

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-07-18 Burton's Batman actually holds up pretty well to what the comic was. Dark camp. I mean, the thing has Bob Kane's stamp of approval as being true to what Batman was all about and, besides, Michael Keaton giving us a slightly loopy Bruce Wayne as opposed to the more ordinary, dare I say boring, one we usually see is delightful.

Cena_mark - 2008-07-18 I loved falling down. Yes it has its flaws but all in all it is a fun movie to watch. Who can hate the "Whammy Burger" scene (other than homos)?
Lurchi - 2008-07-18 The Cena mark of approval!
Desidiosus - 2008-07-18 If it helps, Lurchi, I agree with you.
And having him apologize is just aggravating. It's like having someone boot you in the nads and explain he was just trying to help you pass the time.
Xenocide - 2008-07-18 I can't figure out if Jangbones was actually covertly supporting Falling Down with his post or not. Could such an expertly timed suicide of credibility ("here are some reasons this movie is terrible. In other news, Batman Forever is a masterpiece") have been mere coincidence? I think not.

Both of those movies sucked a lot, but I was about 9 years old.
kiint - 2008-07-18
after watching Dark Knight and then watching this, I feel satisfied
chumbucket - 2008-07-18
for the hand
boner - 2008-07-18
His intention was to make a fuck ton of money on merchandise and shit and it probably worked too.
Cleaner82 - 2008-07-18
Apology not accepted you bastard. But it is sweet music nonetheless.
Jeff Fries - 2008-07-18
The best aspect is how he frames it in terms of disappointing his fans
Ponasty - 2009-07-09 Absolutely.
That apology is only for folks that liked Forever but were disappointed in some way by B&R. This guy Michael Mann and Bruckheimer can all go fuck off as far as im concerned.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-07-18
Jerk.
JERK!
cognitivedissonance - 2008-07-18
Well, his intentions were carried through with aplomb. He did entertain us. Probably not in the way he meant, though...
Screwtape - 2008-07-18
"If there's anybody watching this ... that loved Batman Forever"
Truly delusional to think anyone like either of his Batmans.
Also, dupe I think.
Xenocide - 2008-07-18 Yeah, way to apologize to imaginary theoretical people, Schumacher.
Xenocide - 2008-07-18
BAT-CREDIT CARD! He just wanted to entertain!
revdrew - 2008-07-18
Lovely, but you still owe us an apology for A Time To Kill.
(Lost Boys sort of makes up for it.)
StanleyPain - 2008-07-18
I love the nerd-rage Schumacher's movies inspire. They weren't great, but for being pulp fiction-y, over the top camp, they did their job and did it well. People need to stop taking fucking comic book characters so god damn seriously.

Lies, lies, LIES! - 2009-10-22
I CARE A LOT ABOUT BATMAN.
Glenn or Glennda - 2009-12-28
No apology necessary. Batman and Robin was the long-awaited return of so-bad-it's-good. It was so bad I saw it twice.
Also I enjoyed Shwarzennegger's performance. He clearly loved getting to be the bad guy for a change.
Whatever happened to Alicia Silverstone? Purely a rhetorical question.
