I bet he thought he was just God's fuckin' gift to acting. There are other people in the movie too, dude, lay off the snow.

Nicholas Cage is the fucking best ever.
Needs a spikebravo tag.

I once had a weird, alcoholic-fueled compulsion to watch as many Christopher Walken movies I could find. That was fun.
I then tried the same with Nicholas Cage movies. Not as fun.

Raising Arizona, Wild at Heart, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation

Hooker - 2008-12-16 I'll raise you Face/Off, The Rock, Con Air, and Lord of War.
|
godot - 2008-12-16 Coen, Lynch, Figgis, Kaufman. 4 films by different auteurs whose ouvre will be taught in 100 years isn't bad at all for a film actor, even a nephew of Coppola.
Either he's got an awful agent (who encouraged him to do the other 45 films) or he just doesn't care about scripts or quality control.
|
godot - 2008-12-16 For those reading Hooker's joke: Lord of War is (unlike the others in his list) good. Mostly for the political impulse and direction (rather than acting). However, it does support Godot's 3rd hypothesis of film: Ian Holm has never been in a bad movie.

Dinkin Flicka - 2008-12-17 I don't think you actually see her tits in Lord of War. Not having that pieca shit movie on hand, I can't actually confirm that said tits are seen. Ian Holm it is.

Hooker - 2008-12-17 Fuck anyone that doesn't like Face/Off.
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-12-17 City of Angels was one of the worst films ever made. Leaving Las Vegas isn't that far away from it.
|
Dinkin Flicka - 2008-12-17 I liked Face/Off when I was like 11 and thought Broken Arrow was the single best piece of art ever to be conceived and executed. So it might have sentimental value, but I don't have any misconceptions that it is a preposterous, stupendously overblown, slow-motion laden, homo erotic piece of shit.
And as for Rodents: you needn't explain why City of Angels is one of the worst films - it just is. You gotta do a little explaining for Leaving Las Vegas. You even thought Nic Cage's acting was bad in it?
|
CornOnTheCabre - 2008-12-17 whatever, an action movie without homoeroticism is like a blow job without tongue
name me ONE competent action movie without an intense, almost awkward level of gay

Dinkin Flicka - 2008-12-16
No no no no, Lord of War is Not a good movie. I hope the mid-2000s are looked back on as movies with their blowhard philosophy on their sleeve. It's a good message, but it's a drag of a movie, mixed with retarded narration and acting. Andrew Niccol, Paul Haggis and the rest of these "thinkers" need to learn a thing or two on subtext.
|
Dinkin Flicka - 2008-12-16 Oh fuck, this was supposed to be a reply to the comments above!

apiaryist - 2008-12-16
This is a must see for fans of Cage's "acting".
