There's not mistery here, Glenn appeals to people that don't want anything that looks like intelligent debate at all. He's not telling them anything they don't believe already. The current birther/teabagging/anti-healthcare crowd are not sane people, they just aren't. They're idiots and we know it, they're the product of decades of failed education, bad parenting and so on. They're the embodiment of every single awful stereotype of a USA citizen put together. They're not even conservatives, not in a "traditional" sense if that exists anymore. They're nut cases, paranoid cultist wackos that are arming themselves to the teeth in a cabin because they think the goverment will take away them to concentration camps, to plant control chips, force them to mate with minorities, force them to "become homos", commies, etc etc.
There's no way to make them go away, let alone "debate" them. They have always been there, they're a much needed reminder of what an awful education, or lack of said education, and growing with hate speaches as your moral basis, can do to a human being. It must be a lesson of why education will always be the basis of a nation, no matter from what angle to you look at it. Maybe now it's the time to finally start making a difference in that are, and try to save at least the future generations for ending up like them.
Also, if there indeed exists non-crazy conservatives out there, these people are just giving you the worse name possible. There's no reasonable debate coming out of this, only visceral reactions. Lousy scumbags of politicians will just use them as the basis to promote their agendas, their careers and screw everyone equally.
