They are way too okay with this decision to be good parents. There should be at least some sort of reservation on their part, even if they do end up acceding to her wishes.

Disaster - 2010-02-12 There could have been a lot more going on behind the scenes. They're obviously not going to have a huge family discussion about it on the news. Hearing that you child wants to die is not easy to hear I imagine. Unless you're an abusive jackass but the other kids seem well adjusted enough.

klingerbgoode - 2010-02-12 should be covered by the NHS so it wouldn't cost the family a dime.
unless you mean they want to spend the money they would've spent on feeding and clothing her on a sweet ride. which is probably the case too.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-12 Well I was being sarcastic. But I still think the proper response is, "You wanna die? I'll give you something to wanna die about!"
|
|
pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-13 It's not hilarious, it's apropos. Plus I don't have kids, which means that I am very well equipped to say whether people are or aren't good parents.

Disaster - 2010-02-12
The fact that the board was getting ready to FORCE her to have the operation was just too much for me.

Smellvin - 2010-02-12 Don't be stupid. Faceless bureaucrats ALWAYS know best -- especially in highly personal matters.

she chose to live

pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-12 She knows about Texas, right? How it exists and all?

|
|
pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-12 I sort of assumed you were from NY, actually. I'm pissed off about what's going on with the curriculum. Textbook makers cater to Texas and they know it.

voodoo_pork - 2010-02-12
This is possibly the most depressing video on this site.

Camonk - 2010-02-13 That's lexis, not grammar. Jesus Christ. At most it's syntax.

Needs an "all part of God's great plan" tag
|
Gwago - 2010-02-13 Seconded. If we put our minds to it we can make this an active tag within a week.

Governments/bureaucrats should not be able to force someone who doesn't want to go through with surgery/live in general. Even if it is some some snot-nosed preteen who doesn't realize that she has it pretty well off (insurance wise). I might be a little more sympathetic if her reasoning ran along the lines of "maybe it will give someone else with better odds a chance" but not her "I'm tired and have have to see a doctor every three months and swallow a handful of pills every morning."
Screw her and her sense of entitlement (if that makes sense). Also, her parents are stupid. And ugly. And are probably happy to be rid of her.
Oh, she decided to live? Hoo-ray. Another piglet suckling at the swollen teet of socialized healthcare. Why won't these people give up and die?
|
pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-13 - Not old enough to drink beer, but old enough to make the final call on a heart transplant
- 13 year olds having a sense of entitlement is surprising
- having a shitty lot and shitty parents means you deserve to die
- obligatory dismissal of social medicine
Are you trolling or did someone let you out of your cage?
