Oh yes, Owl City is pretty terrible; almost the epitome of quasi-indie wuss-rock featuring a simpering, whiny-voiced nerd crooning insipidly "clever" wordplay and puns married to painfully dorky earnestness.
Because I'm an asshole, the first thing I did was show this video to every person I know who likes Owl City. 5 Stars for their reactions. And the video.
So....Owl City has nothing to do with The Postal Service?
(checks Wikipedia, finds the following:)
"Adam Young suggested in a 2009 interview with The New York Times that Owl City is perhaps the "next chapter" after The Postal Service:
[The Postal Service] released a record in 2003, and that was it. There was really nothing to compare it to until some one else came along and wrote the next chapter. Maybe that's this record. Maybe that's this band.

Oh my god, so much rage. So much rage. I honestly thought I was listening to some incarnation of The Postal Service when I heard this on the radio.
