I think they should have left in George's confused "Excuse me?" after the doctor tells him Susan is dead for the first time. It would have totally fit.
If they left the shot of her falling over with the envelopes on the cutting room floor, it would have flowed better. It looked too silly for the rest of this.
Also, the "excuse me." But the rest was perfect, especially the shot of him running through the pigeons as the music builds.
He features as a constantly smoking narrator, talking directly to the audience. Not only is George the feel-good film of the season, it breaks the fourth wall like no serious drama has done before.
