In Iraq we used some crusty old no-name pump-action shotguns, which worked just fine. You don't really need something as fancy as the AA-12 to blow the hinges off a door. The fact that it is fully automatic is sort of a non-issue when it comes to breaching; your breaching device is supposed to allow your team to enter the room as quickly as possible- one shot to the upper hinge, one shot to the lower, fast as fuck, then a kick next to the doorknob and get through the "fatal funnel" of the doorway and into the room as quickly as possible- not delay things by sending a wild hail of bullets through the door or a fusillade of potential ricochets into the doorframe.
Mind you I was doing this shit circa 2005- for all I know the kids these days are using acid hoses and concrete-flails.
