EvilHomer - 2011-08-16
As broken as he is, he's still living a more fulfilling life than I am. ,__,
If you don't feel like waiting, the big reveal happens at 5:40.

I was laughing along with the hosts for a while there, but then I just started feeling sad for this kid. I hope the military (and forced interaction with others) helps him out.

EvilHomer - 2011-08-16 I don't know if it would; I guess it would depend on what he does and where he goes. In Intel, I served with a whole mess of broken nerds, and if anything we just made each other worse. If he gets selected for some jock-friendly job, though, he might wind up killing himself instead of getting better. I knew a Fate/stay night hyper-otaku who got transferred to Armor, and last I heard he'd gone all Private Pyle on his platoon.
It's tragic, yet beautiful at the same time. He's so earnest and cheery about the whole situation, it's hard to laugh at him. Compare this guy to, say, Alix Henriol (that chick who "married" Sonic the Hedgehog)- SHE gives off constant serial killer vibes, and if it weren't for the fact she's oddly attractive despite all the batshit crazy, there'd be no reason to show her anything but scorn.
You know what I'd really like to see? An anime based on this guy. Maybe not a direct biographical piece per say, but something about a nerd who loves a fictional character so much he retreats into his own fantasy world. Set it in the real world and keep it firmly grounded in "reality" (no dream-sequence cuts into his world, his waifu stays a pillow the whole time); just follow the guy around in his daily life and allow the narrative to be firmly controlled by him- like a weeb version of "American Splendor" or something. I'd totally watch a series like that.

EvilHomer - 2011-08-16 That sounds pretty awesome; is that the one where he lives in the shipping crate? Or something else entirely? There's got to be a whole subgenre of terminally broken, hikikomori-themed animes just waiting to be discovered.

Riskbreaker - 2011-08-16 The name of the show is Welcome to the N.H.K, haven't seen the whole thing, just bits and pieces here and there. The main character starts to believe in a tv conspiracy to force people to remain locked in home. Before you ask, no, he doesn't join TFL, he's not that crazy.
