To be clear, the allegation is not exactly rape. The sex was consensual, only the choking and filming of the act were (allegedly) not consensual. I'm very relieved.

Five stars for undeniable POEworthiness, it's a perfect submission, minus one star for Crackersmack's misleading description. Nothing about this is threatening. If the advertisers are drawing criticism for sponsoring a guy who seems to have built his brand on trolling, asking them to comment before reporting on it seems like responsible journalism. And there's no reason not to report on this.

I gotta say, for me, alarm bells went off as soon as the video started, but I thought "Well maybe the reporter *was* being underhanded & unfair. It's possible, I guess." And that's usually where I leave it, since I don't really care who Dave Portnoy is or what his beef is. It's kinda nice being able to correctly file him under "Entitled Libertarian Troll". There are just *so many* of them that it's kinda exhausting.

Portnoy has no complaint. He's an internet personality who trades on his notoriety, and he's just trying to build his noteriety further. He wants you to know that he's a controversial figure.

The first alarm bell is when he starts out by paraphrasing, "you're basically sending out an email that says to the effect...", when he has the email right in front of him, and could read it verbatim right off the bat. In my opinion, the paraphrase and the text are not very close.
