Aw geez, man... Wouldn't you know it, not a looker in the bunch.

I still managed to rub one out.

Narcissism Manifesto
Fezren - 2011-12-21

Also, why focus on calling out sexism among players when the entire video game industry is arguable the most sexist form of media that there is?

They don't have a problem playing as a scantily clad night-elf barbie with GGG breasts, BUT YOU BETTER NOT MAKE A PASS AT THEM.

Hooker - 2011-12-21
I suppose I should say that I'm male before getting into this.

I used to identify as a "gamer" because it seemed like a succinct way of identifying that I play video games to people that don't, even though I buy about 2-3 games a year. However, someone once blew up at me for using the term (I think it was on here, and I think it was just because it was a pet peeve and they liked flying off the handle), and so I started paying more attention to how other people use the term and wow. It seems to have become this kind of gay-pride, fighting-against-bigotry-that-doesn't-exist-and-wouldn't-be-bigotr y-if-it-did mentality that other, imaginary people have. You don't see fans of movies calling themselves moviers or sports fans calling themselves footballies or whatever else. I have to wonder why some people who have this specific hobby feel such a need to be defiantly open about it.
magnesium - 2011-12-21
"Gamer" is like the socially acceptable "Furry".

Really, though, it's just a marketing ploy to get video game players to peer pressure each other into buying 5 or 6 brand new games a month.

Riskbreaker - 2011-12-21
Long answer: I guess this generation doesn't really have anything they can feel part of in any way, shape or form. Thus why clinging to such a mundane hobby like video games becomes a "movement" for some kids.

Short answer: Ass burgers.

sosage - 2011-12-21
Like Magnesium mentioned, it is definitely marketing gone insane. It's similar in strain to the punk/hip hop/rock/whatever-music-genre fans being "true" fans because they listen to all of it and can tell what the "true" chunks of "good" music are. Except it is an entire medium.

I call myself a gamer, to mean I am pretty into video games. Not so much that I am a falsely persecuted class in society, which is what makes the term embarrassing to use now days. More so than when it was just embarrassing being an adult playing with things designed for children.

pastorofmuppets - 2011-12-21
If you were a young boy in the 90s you were probably either "alternative" or "hip-hop." Unfortunately they were split pretty hard along class & race lines.

Games seem to do better, which is something.

Void 71 - 2011-12-22
If there isn't a 'first world problems' tag, then this video is reason enough to create it.

SkeletonMichelle - 2011-12-22
I don't think this video is very effective, but it's not about the experience of "gamers." It's about the experience of female gamers, and there is a particular kind of nastiness directed at them in online games. Really, it's crazy how often the presence of a woman in a Call of Duty match or a Halo match or whatever is met with "Make me a sandwich!" responses or vulgar sexual requests or what have you, so I think the concerns this video is trying (however ineffectively) to address are legit, and I don't think there's a parallel here to movies or sports or whatever.

Hooker - 2011-12-22
Yeah, I get that, Skeleton. I just wanted to voice this idea, which is a bit besides the point.

FABIO - 2011-12-22
Someone asking if you're a gamer is as pointlessly dumb as asking DO YOU LIKE MOVIES/MUSIC? Ditto with identifying yourself as so.

hammsangwich - 2011-12-21
I don't ever use a headset so I don't know if people are chicks or dudes, I refer to everyone as a cockgobbling assfister equally.
Cena_mark - 2011-12-21
I just hate how they tire of being treated differently as a girls, yet IRL they're like, "I'm a cute gamer girl! I'm nerdy and quirky."

Pope Caius - 2011-12-21
Better yet, the uploader's username is SexyNerdGirlPresents. Hrm...

FABIO - 2011-12-22
Attention AND indignation. Why settle for just one?

pastorofmuppets - 2011-12-21
Stars for the bank advertisement style of direction, and YouTube, where the prevailing criticism is "love it or leave it" rather than "do you really think people who use 'faggot' as a pause-filler are going to take your message to heart?"

Also, guys, stop ruining this for everyone. You can't rub one out in a deathmatch and then TELL HER.
Meerkat - 2011-12-21
Oh yes you can.

Void 71 - 2011-12-22
This was a shitty commercial.
The Mothership - 2011-12-22
WOULD THA SUGAH RAIN is a linked tag!!! Would teh Sugah Rain is a linked tag!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, next we need 'Would The Mothership?' cause I totally would.
Hooker - 2011-12-22
You have to have a rich history of being awful to get your own tag, Mothership :(

Pope Caius - 2011-12-22
Sorry, Mothership, there can be only one.

The Mothership - 2011-12-22
oh I know tags are earned, not given.

Cherry Pop Culture - 2011-12-22
I liked the video, but it went on a minute too long.

But infinite stars for you guys! :D

I play games to get away from all you people. I'm so glad I don't have to be annoyed by online gaming communities and can instead work on my flesh doll.

Watching this is as tedious as getting your blood elf hunter up to level 85. Or hearing anyone say "pwn," ironically or sincerely.
TheQuakeSoldier - 2011-12-22
Are there actually women who feel this way? First world problems, indeed.
Cherry Pop Culture - 2011-12-22
Sexual harassment online isn't a first world problem. It's a PROBLEM.

TheQuakeSoldier - 2011-12-22
Tits or gtfo.

Hay Belly - 2011-12-22
I want to harass them and I have tits. NOT TRANNY

RocketBlender - 2011-12-22
Jeez, I got here just in time to see this at the bottom and miss the discussion. Here it is real quick;

These videos erode my soul, pope. Nothing makes me lose interest in gaming faster than other gamers.
Hay Belly - 2011-12-22
Agree, I'm not talking about my Smuggler/Scoundrel with anyone.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2012-06-10
This clip was a blur of nonsense, but :46 and the hot brunette are woulds. More would nots than would though.
