I HAD THIS TOY!
It was like legos crossed with robotech and the great thing was you could make all kinds of cool shit with all the connecting parts. I had a lot of fun with them as a kid, and until today I had no fucking idea that it was a cartoon.
I had these as well, both the white and the gray sets. I loved making T-Rex and such out of them. The coolest part to me, was the little motors and the 6 button remote to make things move. Second was the walker assembly so you could plug a motor and and make things trundle around.
The theme song suspiciously sounds like it was written by Ray Parker Jr.
They always had names like "Good-eons" and "Evil-ites."
IN ANCIENT TIMES THE WAR BETWEEN THE FEEDTHEHOMLESSBOTS AND THE BABYRAPEDROIDS EXPLODED INTO CONFLICT.
NOW 800 TRILLION CENTURIES LATER THEY AGAIN DO BATTLE HERE ON EARTH FOR SOME REASON, AIDED BY THEIR ABILITY TO TRICK THEIR OPPONENTS BY DISGUISING THEMSELVES AS DELICIOUS ROAST BEEF SANDWICHES
ROBOFIGHTOTRONS IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY ARBY'S.

"I don't understand, transferring our souls into gigantic combat robots was supposed to bring peace between our people!"
Dupe, but a wonderful dupe.
I love how hard the narrator is struggling to get all that nonsense out in 30 seconds. He's chugging along so hard, he can't even be bothered to change his inflection.
He probably did loads of voice overs for toy commercials. Not a lot of difference, there.
This is the franchise I can never remember the name of, because I had the cheap knockoff, Zoids.
I wouldn't really say Zoids are a knock-off, since they're still being produced.
These toys were great. I found some of the parts from them in my parents' basement a couple weeks ago when I was visiting, and they're still pretty cool.
The cartoon was definitely a spinoff of the toys, not vice versa.
Was there ever a Capsela cartoon? Because these things were basically a dumbed down, cooler looking Capsela.
