It's true that African Americans and Hispanics have sickle-cell at a much higher rates than other ethnic groups. It's genetics, not racism. And true, her wording could be a lot more better and focus on the culture of unhealthy food in the south as a whole contributing to obesity and diabetes. Still, I don't think this is the equivelent of yelling "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER" on a youtube post or something. A little ignorant, yes, but not mean spirited, I don't believe.
Though this is largely because of the poverty which has been ingrained over many centuries. Shit tastes better deep fried and slathered in hot sauce or BBQ or brown sugar.
