Yuki-Onna is not the slit mouth woman, this is mythological blasphemy.
Sanest Man Alive
Japanese folklore has a whole damned subclass of monstrous women that approach travelers asking for help/offering company/outright marrying them, then kill the shit out of them in myriad ways. Sirens are passe to these people.
What I'm saying is there's certainly grounds for overlap here.
I disagree, there are lines that just don't intersect. The lore behind something like Bloody Mary is completely alien to something like Slenderman, and the same applies to something like Yuki Onna who has many stories and appearances in Japanese folk tales, where as something like Kuchisake Onna is just a creepypasta. Of course the Japanese love their siren myths like a lot of cultures do, but there's more breadth of character that exists in the tradition of all those Shinto Buddhist Yokai. To compromise between the them, would be like equating My Little Pony to the Winx Club. Even if you can see that, the two are too distinct to add up.

I'm just trying to say there's really nothing that says the slit-mouth woman can't haunt dudes when it's snowing out. Who are you to tell her when she can and can't go around accosting strangers? Nobody, because she'll just give you a terminal case of face-torn-off for trying!

Funny how it can make you jump even when you totally see it coming.
