At the end of Act I I was like "Was this worth it?" but then when Clare Danes comes on for the staggering denouement and [SPOILERS] turns on the lights and says "Hey have you seen my trumpet?" I knew I had to stay put until the credits.
I never noticed before how it looks kind of mournful at first but then right before it blows the trumpet it gets pissed.
George Clinton once told Eddie Hazel when recording Maggot Brain "Play like your momma just died." I think that's what's going on here.
