Not available in my country? But my country is the BEST country! Why can't we have nice things???

memedumpster - 2014-08-20

Prince did no such thing. This video is not available in my country, therefore it doesn't exist. There were no 1989 charts.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-08-20

Should I 5-star a thing I can't see just because it's Prince?

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-08-20

OOPS I PRESSED IT

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-20

This rules. So many things worth starring, but I'm giving them to the inexplicable Batman laserdisc on a turntable with a mic on it at 4:51.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-20

And of course a man of taste like Prince wouldn't settle for anything less that Caesar Romero Joker costumes.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

You're seeing this? What the hell country are you living in?

gravelstudios - 2014-08-21

Old-Zircon Country, where the men are men and the youtube is hacked.

Seriously, though, if you're in the US OZ, how are you watching this?

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-21

You n00bs can't step to my elite googling-far-a-free-youtube-proxy skillz.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-21

*for

EvilHomer - 2014-08-21

Isn't that a frivolous use of proxy resources? Like wasting TOR bandwidth Twitter stalking your ex-girlfriend? I wouldn't want to break any codes of ethics or anything.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-22

If it's a proxy explicitly set up for bypassing Youtube's regional restrictions?

Scrimmjob - 2014-08-20

Prince's Batman soundtrack was the first cassette I ever bought with my own money.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-20

Mine was Weird Al's "Even Worse"

kingarthur - 2014-08-20

Me too, Scrimmjob. Me too.

gravelstudios - 2014-08-21

My first cassette was "Even Worse', but I didn't buy it. My brother's best friend gave it to him.

I'd say that most of Prince's music is boring, but the stuff that isn't is awesome. He's like the musical embodiment of sturgeon's law.

Lurchi - 2014-08-21

I had the cassingle

Pillager - 2014-08-21

Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'.

Binro the Heretic - 2014-08-20

I have never been all that impressed by Prince.

However, I liked this video because it was as delightfully campy as the old Adam West "Batman" TV series.

Maggot Brain - 2014-08-20

Fuck this lazy-ass song. The b-side "200 Balloons" is much better.

magnesium - 2014-08-21

Better or worse than the Vanilla Ice Ninja Turtles rap?

ez - 2014-08-21

Better than Vanilla Ice Ninja Turtle rap and MC Hammer Addams Groove combined.

craptacular - 2014-08-21

From AllMusic.com: "Prince's Batman album went double platinum, peaked at number five R&B, parked at number one pop for six weeks, and spawned the singles "Partyman and "Scandalous!" "
stupid music makes boat loads of money

EvilHomer - 2014-08-21

See? I told you there were worse things than Bowie. Prince, for one.

Scrimmjob - 2014-08-21

Bernard, don't be a tuna head!

EvilHomer - 2014-08-22

As a musician, Prince is miles ahead of Bowie - he's a much better singer, he knows theory, and he's quite handy with a wide range of instruments. There's really no contest as far as which one of them is the more talented "musician".

But that's it. That's as far as I can defend Prince. Prince may know the inner workings of a song, but he does not know how to write a decent one. Bowie can occasionally strike gold, or at least strike copper, but Prince is just one endless string of cringe-inducing crap. His best songs are almost as embarrassing to listen to as Bowie's worst, which is saying a lot; he'd have been much better off swallowing his pride and letting other people write his music for him. He also strikes me as a bit of pompous jerk, which is a shame. Bowie, for all his failures as a musician, seems to be a generally nice guy. B-dawg's a good actor and a great entertainer once you get him away from the music, but Prince? Prince is a putz through and through.

I'd totally microwave his hamster.

Scrimmjob - 2014-08-22

Inside The Musician's Studio with Evilhomer, who clearly knows what he is talking about.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-22

I might be wrong, but didn't Evilhomer come out in favor of Dream Theater a couple years ago?

Prickly Pete - 2014-08-22

Scott Aukerman's favorite song!
