Fratacular. Remember these are the same people who will tell you racism is dead and that liberals are the true racists.
Some friends of mine opened up a chapter of Delta Sig to be a multi-cultural fraternity. They were shunned by the traditional frats and called "Delta Nig."
Lets just say I've always hated frats and was always too punk rock to join one
These kinds of organizations only really work in an environment with prehistoric predatory cats roaming about eating them opportunistically.
Note, this does not mean that I am against these frats existing, only that I want them randomly attacked by lions.
My niece was walking down the sidewalk with a friend of hers at WSU and a bunch of fratboys yelled "Go back to Asia! You don't belong here!"
I lived next to UW frats in Seattle and can only say they are the very epitome of white privilege and as bad as gangbangers in the ghetto. The only difference is that they never have to worry about prison.
They get to rape and riot and it's all fine and dandy because boys will be boys.
Yes, I hate fratboys.
I hate all fraternities.
I hate all sororities.
I wish they would be fucking killed.
Or at least dissolved. Fuck them all.
And here I was thinking racism was just a big issue with southern frats. I knew this one coastie from Bellingham who once went on a huge rant about how much he hated Canasians (Asain Canadians). Are anti-Asian sentiments big with rednecks up there?
I lived next to a UW frat too, but Wisconsin, not Washington, in a cooperative. Not sure if it's the same at Washington, but we were all on the same street. Anyway, my parents (who were also UW alums) have stories about the Civil Rights movement, and, as the administration referred to them, "East Coast Agitators" (aka Jews). In a way I sort of lucked out: in the brochure I received prior to my freshman year, the University thought it'd be good to show the diversity on campus by including a shot of a whole bunch of Badgers fans cheering at a football team. All white (it IS Wisconsin after all) and one black guy kinda in the middle. Cool, right? EXCEPT THEY PHOTOSHOPPED THE BLACK GUY'S FACE IN! He was never there. So that led to some interesting dialogue which got into the thick skulls of frat kids who were probably inherently racist, homophobic, etc. but really calmed the tension via one of the dumbest things a very smart University could have done (except now that Scott Walker wants to turn it into basically a technical school, but that's another story).
The most racist thing I'd ever heard my entire time in Madison was actually at a little cooperative I was working at (dunno if it's the same everywhere, but the word means a living situation or place of business. Basically it's a fancy way of putting "convenience store" on my resume). We pretty much had one rule: "don't get so drunk at work that you can't perform your job", which was as simple as operation of a cash register and counting money and stocking a few items. Other than that, get as fucked up as you can. Just don't pass out with the bank bag on your way down the stairs to the safe, because it happened, more than once. Anyway it was me and my "punk rock" boss. "Punk Rock" being like that guy you see at the punk show who is probably in his 50s but still holding onto his youth. Besides getting so fucked up that he was pissing outside the store on the door and telling the "JAPs" (also racist but people didn't really make the connection) a black dude walks in, who happened to be my TA in a class and I'm ringing him up and he comes up and just says "I... HATE... N*IGGERS." Says it about 3 times to the guy's face and stumbles away. For a pasty norwegian guy, I was white as fuck. We just kinda stared at each other for 30 seconds or so, and he was like "did he just say what I thought he said?" And my only response was.. "....yeah..." thinking "oh fuck I need to drop this class. And then he just started laughing, saying he recognized me from his class and that people get fucked up and say stupid shit they probably don't mean. That's no excuse, I know, but if it was me I would've clocked him, and if I was in a position to fire him, I would've on the spot.
My brother was recently in Tulsa on tour with his band, which has some very suggestive themes that I didn't know would go over so well there, but apparently it went over better than the same performance piece did in its hometown of Portland Oregon. I guess it's become a very progressive city, much like Madison Wisconsin vs. what I perceive as the "rest of the Midwest." And my assumption in a way makes me part of the problem, that all people, especially college-town frat kids wouldn't only not "get it," but possibly use hateful language as weapons were they to attend the show. I hope these kids get reprimanded but it's college, so you're supposed to, I dunno, learn things and I hope they learn from this.
As an undergrad at a small but very diverse college, I tried starting a chapter of Delta Xi Phi (also a specifically multicultural organization.) Never got enough interest to get it off the ground, and I'm pretty sure I know who tore down my flyers.

As someone who lived in Oklahoma for seven years, interacted with OU students and OU football fans regularly, I can't say this surprises me.
Something always seemed wrong with the southern frats. I'm aware of defacto segregation, but the frats were so white washed I always felt like the segregation had an institutional source. Of course they can't have it be official, but more of a "Don't recruit darkies" culture coming from all levels of their institutions.
I went to Ole Miss for four years and graduated from there. 80% of the school in the Greek system. White privilege and racism abounds. While I was there, they had their first black student body president, a college Republican from a white frat and there were still pictures of chimpanzees in suits all over the school. One Asian journalism student was accused of "yellow" journalism to her face more than once. The first black head of the student newspaper (who committed the triple sin of being black, a foreigner, and a woman) routinely got death threats. Anthony Hervey, the "black confederate soldier" resides there. The place is an unending shit and hell storm of violence, assholes, and evil.
FUN FUCKING TIMES.
Nothing changes, burn Northern Mississippi to the fucking ground, nuke the site from orbit and salt the earth, it's the only way to be sure.
You probably want to go ahead and nuke Memphis too while you're at it. It's all part of the Memphis "metro" which is really just Memphis and all the shitty hick towns within a two hour drive.

They've been run off campus and the national fraternity has disowned their chapter.
Also, it's kind of fun seeing how FOX news is covering this story:
So how long until a Fox News pundit says the university's reaction is a violation of these poor innocent students' free speech?
Oh, my young and innocent lambs...

oh that's what Yahoo was going on about. There were a bunch of articles without a link to the video.
I used to know a gay dude from Oklahoma and he was pretty much just like this.
You mean a "Gaycist"
This gay person I knew from the Coast Guard was posting shit mocking the Ferguson rioters, saying the rioting was stupid and that riots can't do anything positive. I was like STONEWALL FOOL!

The irony is not lost on me.
The dude I knew thought it should be illegal to speak Spanish in America because "it didn't sound right". I was like...but...you...minority...I just...
Yeah, I dated a guy from Shawnee for a couple weeks, and that was the reason I broke up with him. Something about immigration came up and he revealed that he fucking hated blacks and Mexicans like there was no tomorrow. Like, he thought it should be legal for any gun carrying American to shoot illegals dead on sight and we should be mowing down women and children at the border. The best part? He was gay and Native American (Seminole) and he talked like a writer for Resist.com.
Lots of Oklahoma gays are fucking wacky. They're gay so they're mostly hated in their communities if they're out, but even still they cling to all those same shitty values as the people who hate them that they were brought up with.

For all of the major, fundamental problems with my university, I can at least say that it was only something like 4% frat.
So long as you cut out transfrats, you can have around 22% frats without it impacting your health.

gotta give it to rice university--their charter prohibits the establishment of a greek system. and boy does it make campus a lot more pleasant
|bopeton - 2015-03-09 |
So do they have to let a nigger be in SAE now?
No, even better. The school kicked all of them out and ended their association with the fraternity.
They're free to do whatever they want, but they won't be doing it at OU.

there will never be a nigger, see?

Now that we've established that poeTV loves cops more than frats, this should bring love to you all...

I'll see you your awful song and raise you a mother of the house mother of this fraternity singing the N word over and over again.
