You don't have to watch it;

He says; 'Gays are Nazis. (next sentence) Now I'm not saying gays are Nazis'

If you've seen one episode of this guy's show you've seen them all!

No, he doesn't SolRo. He never says "gays are Nazis" (although the allusion in his neologism "Gay Reich" was clearly intentional).

What Mr Fischer actually says is "They (the gay rights lobby) have a flag, just like the Nazis had their flag. Again, I'm not saying that they're Nazis..." You can watch the video if you don't believe me. 0:40.

Anyway, the main point which Mr Fischer here raises is a valid one - that is to say, IF we accept that the state has a right to suppress political speech, whenever said speech can be argued to be "hateful" towards another group, THEN the suppression of gay pride symbols must be seriously considered. You see, SolRo, the trouble with condoning political repression on hate-speech grounds (besides the obvious fact that such behavior is completely anathema to free speech, overtly fascist, and completely un-Constitutional), is that pretty much EVERY political interest group can be negatively defined through it's opposition to a racial, social, or religious Other. The LGBT lobby "hates" Christians like Mr Fischer just as much as Mr Fischer and his pals "hate" the LGBT lobby. Once the state is weaponized, we cannot play favorites. Everyone becomes a target.

The United States is a far way off from getting to that point, but we're already seeing the legal consequences of condoning socially-expedient political repression in Europe. Many parts of Europe have far more restrictions on political speech than we have here in America; these laws were generally put in place by post-war "liberals", who intended them to be used against "regressive" (conservative or national socialist) elements within their society. Now, however, these same laws are being used to *silence* liberals and *protect* conservative Islam! {1} And well they should; the rule of law requires that laws be applied fairly across the board, regardless of their original intent. Europeans condoned political repression and the weaponization of the state for purely pragmatic reasons, and now they will live with the consequences.

I am not sure what Bryan Fischer's ultimate take on all this is. As usual with RWW, this clip is painfully short and shorn of the context necessary to actually understand what it is he's arguing about. I will say that, knowing Bryan Fischer, and being one of the few people who has listened to his full unedited radio show before {2}, I highly, HIGHLY doubt that his intent here is to play the liberal and argue against the criminalization of thought. Instead, I think Mr Fischer is probably OK with institutionalized political repression; he just wants his own turn behind the gun.

And if the rest of us make the mistake of condoning political repression, then he WILL have that turn.
