Nailed it.

Wrong! There is life after death. The soul does not ascend to heaven but rather rests in a limbo state that varies depending on the karma of the spirit.

John McLaughlin outlived most of the people in this sketch.

His contribution to the national political discourse will be sorely missed.

Kinda responsible for the clusterfuck that is our modern "news" show...

This is what Americans call "Thanksgiving dinner".

The productions were often hilariously wrong., sometimes tragically so. I remember when they all confidently predicted the success of the Chinese Student Democracy movement, the week before the tanks rolled into Tienanmen Square. Also, a Dukakis Victory. No matter how smart, you are, predicating the future is a fool's errand.

The trouble started when it stopped being a clusterfuck.
This kind of chaos does work with commercial breaks, and so CNN gave us "Crossfire" two people formally representing competing viewpoints. It was adversarial, it combatative, and above all, it was theater. It was THEATER.It wasn't discussion.

I watched the McLaughlin group for years, especially when I was in college.. Back when we used to plan our lives around TV, I planned my Sundays around this. I'm not sure I ever learned anything, but I know I was entertained. It was friendly, intelligent, boisterous fun.

*This kind of chaos does NOT work with commercial breaks.

This will go at least a little bit better when I get my larger phone activated.

"Death comes in the night on little cat's paws :3" why isn't that title of a book about the last 15 years or so in the Middle East?
