The problem is not that Ivermectin is a horse dewormer.
There is nothing inherently wrong with drug repositioning. Viagra was originally researched as a blood pressure medication. BCP, which was for tuberculosis, seems to be good for type 1 diabetes. Chlorpromazine, studied as an antihistamine, is now an important antipsychotic. And Ivermectin itself is already approved to treat humans (in far smaller doses than horses!) for parasitic worms, head lice, and rosacea.
Check out Cures Within Reach, a non-profit funding research into treatments for rare diseases -- a lot of that through drug repositioning. You can even donate to them, though according to Nom that makes you a secret evil billionaire.
The problem is you usually want to reposition drugs based on, you know, research and not creepy right-wing forums.
