His Major Bullet Points:

1 - Women are holding out for steak when there are hot dogs lying on the ground all around them

2 - I only looked for a certain kind of woman so the dating apps presented me with that kind of woman

3 - I argue a lot with my wife

4 - We're sad because the Internet has made us socially isolated

Okay, so...

1 - Men should try to be less awful

2 - You can meet a woman who is different from you on a dating app, provided you actually look for them

3 - Relationships with a lot of common ground tend to last longer

4 - Most of us are tired and worn out from work and car culture has made face-to-face meetings more difficult

Forgot the stars.

Adjuvant - 2023-03-18

To be fair on your point #1, when I watched this I got the sense he was aiming his comments at men on dating apps being too choosy or unable to take a chance on a non-"perfect" match. Points 2 - 4, though, yeah.

SolRo - 2023-03-18

Point 1 is equally true for both genders.

The sad fact of reality is that the older you get the less good single people there are left in your age range, most have already paired off.

There are old men who think they’re entitled to date 20 year olds and old women who think they can be as entitled as 20 year olds.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-18

Young men and women, but specially young women, are showing a preference for older partners.

Financial security plays a big role. Older people have more assets. This is fuel on the fire of "the old are hoarding everything and making young lives worse." It's a side effect of capitalism. We'd need a more equitable distribution of wealth to fix this part of the problem.

Older people also just tend to be better at relationships because they have more experience. Most kids and teens don't really have as many opportunities to learn and hone social skills. Even adults have a hard time getting together and just hanging out these days. Imagine being a child or teen who has to rely on an adult to get them to and from social opportunities.

Retardo Montebaun - 2023-03-17

the tired and worn out is a serious thing, most men are just so goddamn overworked we haven't got the time or energy to do any real level of dating. My father had endless amounts of free time compared to me, and it's only gotten worse.

Cena_mark - 2023-03-18

Money too. People work so much, yet don't disposable income to go out.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-18

And there aren't a lot of places people can just hang out for free.

And because human habitats are built for the convenience of cars, getting to theose places are difficult.

Adjuvant - 2023-03-18

Amen to the not having places to hang out for free. Having a teenager in the house, I can attest to there being nowhere to go and nothing for them to do anymore, free or otherwise. Especially when every place kids used to go in the evenings (like arcades, bowling alleys, skating rinks, coffee shops, live music or dance clubs, etc) have either ceased to exist or have all started serving booze so that they're 21+ after 6 or 7 pm, or always. Wonder why kids don't hang out offline or date much anymore? It's because there's nowhere for them to legally go and spend time with their peers.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-18

I know we bitched a lot about malls, but I sure do wish our teen had a place like that to just be with their friends.

Cena_mark - 2023-03-18

Even if there were public spaces for teens, our suburbs are too sprawled for them to meet on their own. Yet another aspect showing the harm done by suburbanization. I remember as a teen when my friends and I would sometimes just goof around in Wal-mart.

jfcaron_ca - 2023-03-19

Growing up in the suburbs my bff and I used to bike around the neighbourhood and hang out at the gas station and look for dropped change with which to buy candy. Nowadays someone would probably call the cops on our neglecting parents or something.

SolRo - 2023-03-19

Social culture for kids has changed because there’s so much to do at home now, not because of less options outside of the home.

In the 90s and earlier kids wouldn’t have their own computer, probably wouldn’t have a personal TV in their room and unlikely to have their own phone.

Basically kids didn’t have much to do at home so they’d wander out into the neighborhood to entertain themselves.

Nominal - 2023-03-22

The most popular teen activities have always been smoking, drinking, and screwing inside or in the woods.

Grandpa nerd!

Cena_mark - 2023-03-18

It's funny how Communist China enforced the brutal one child policy, but as they've grown more and more capitalist as they've relaxed the policy. Birth rates are now negative, as today's capitalism seems to be the most effective birth control devised by man. Now the very people who made it so eveyone is too broke or overworked to have kids are fussing about the lack of workers and consumers from the next generation.

Retardo Montebaun - 2023-03-18

Yeah obviously that is a thousand times worse, and in my opinion a crime being committed by the state but keep in mind just because one persons problems are worse does not mean another persons problems are invalidated, that is a bad trap to fall into.
as far as solving that problem? I have no idea, it's not in my country and I am flabbergasted that it has become a thing, all I can offer is my condolences and hope that things get better for you.

Retardo Montebaun - 2023-03-18

crap ment as a reply to Tot

radiosquido - 2023-03-19

Man I can tell you raising a child with both parents working full time/overtime is a gruelling experience. I love my kid but my life now consists of work, childcare, and sleep. No hobbies, no exercise, no life whatsoever. We just had a changing of the guard--partner came home from errands and is taking over watching the kid, who is currently melting down because I took away the safety razor she wanted to eat, and now I'm going to go do the laundry and fix the baby gate at the top of the stairs. Then we'll trade again while she meal preps. Ah, the weekend.

I can't blame people for not wanting to have kids. This is a marathon that never stops.

TeenerTot - 2023-03-18

Oh, poor men.

Since I could get thrown in jail for having a miscarriage, you'll forgive me for not wanting a thriving dating/sex life right now.

Hyperbole? Yeah. But I think I made my point.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-18

Women are also showing preference for older men.

They not only have more assets, they're also statistically less likely to try and dominate their partners or kill them if they fight back against the domination.

Not saying every young man is controlling and/or violent, just stating the odds.

ashtar. - 2023-03-18

Date me, I'm impotent.

ashtar. - 2023-03-19

Wait, isn't there necessarily a corresponding record number of single women? Like, are they all turning gay or polycule harem dating alpha chads?

Cena_mark - 2023-03-19

I'm sure it's similar. Women are just less likely to form stupid clubs over it.

SolRo - 2023-03-19

There’s much more severe social stigma for women to be single past a certain age, so it shouldn’t be surprising that some wouldn’t brag about it.

Rafiki - 2023-03-20

Is there a context to this video, is he a right-wing commentator? Otherwise, this just seems like some guy railing against dating websites and the internet leading to social isolation. Specifically, people don't go out and try to actually socialize and meet people to date, they scroll endlessly through profiles on websites that, by design, try to feed them nothing but mirror images of themselves which creates an unrealistic expectation of finding some mythical Perfect Match (this was the point of his story about how he met his wife and why he brought up that they don't agree on everything), and people don't hang out with their friends in-person anymore where they can visibly see their mood and state of mind and engage them, instead they socialize through co-op games where the only topic is the match they're playing. Whether he's right or not, I'm not seeing some dude ranting about stupid old crusty bitches or an unfair world where men aren't drowning in pussy.

cognitivedissonance - 2023-03-21

The expectation that burn out is mandatory is not sustainable. Something will crack at some point. They will inevitably have to stop expecting limitless profits or cease to have a workforce capable of paying for the non-essential things they’re busy automating employees out of. The hope that the Rapture would happen and halt the escalation is seeming increasingly stupid to pretty much everybody, and praying for a Civil War is dependent upon loyalty to an ideology, any ideology at all, in sufficient numbers to make victory feasible. People are just too tired to fight for them anymore, they know it, and the gears are grinding to a halt.
