If you understand that the definition of propaganda isn't inherently negative, and that the way it's leveraged and it's aims are the metric by which to measure it's harm, you understand that this is not a controversial statement nor does it actually imply everyone is gullible.

The way most people hear the word "ego" and assume it's negative because "a big ego" is a common phrase and that's inherently negative. Propaganda doesn't have to be brainwashing, bad faith or filled with disinformation - it simply has to espouse something.
