Twitter has always been a cancer so this doesn’t really bother me

Twitter had a lot of potential once, like Facebook, like YouTube, which are now terrible. People have great ideas, corporations move fast and break things.

I think people need to go back to the basics, to email, blogs, text, forums, and IRC. Cant we just do that? Social media should be social, a place for human contact, not where we build our brands and sell our souls to get the attention of the whole world.

I'd agree, and add that the seemingly fairly common and widely accepted practice of deploying disingenuous accusations of antisemitism to shut down discussion of fascism and apartheid is a darker and even more harmful version of antisemitism.

A couple of years ago, Ilhan Omar tweeted something about Israel paying a lot of money to lobby the US government that some people thought was antisemitic, but didn't seem that way at all to me, and then Chelsea Clinton tweeted something back that seemed almost like friendly advice, to be careful not to SOUND antisemitic, which is not the same as acusing someone of antisemitism, but Ms Clinton was actually accused by asshole protesters to her face of enabling the murder of palestinian children or something with her tweet , and that was clearly some balloon juice.

When I see an ad on Pluto TV, or YouTube, urging Hamas to release the hostages, it pisses me off a little, because everyone cares about the hostages, this is really just lobbying for Israel. The murdered outnumber the hostages, and if I had friends in Gaza, I might be sympathetic to someone who tore down a flyer or two.

So not everything Chris Hayes is citing here may actually be something I would call antisemitism, but antisemitism is real, and Im sure it is on the rise, along with every other kind of racism. Trump tweeted something on his shitty "truth" site today describing the woman of color who is prosecuting him as "racist", because that's what white grievance looks like in 2023. When a white man singles out black people and calls them "racist" for,doing her job, he's being racist, and everyone knows it. It's not hard to crack the code on that one. Like Chris Hayes says, "the highest levels of society".

Anyway, I agree with the main point here, which is: Fuck Elon Musk and his antisemitic bullshit.
