Whenever people told me to see Metropolis and raved about what a timeless classic it was, I always figured they were exaggerating. "The movie's nearly a century old, and silent to boot! Surely they exaggerate about its qualities!" I thought to myself.
This clip changed all that.

B. Weed Well if you do see the one with the '84 music, see it with the sound off and a good ensemble playing live music, like the Alloy Orchestra.

Old_Zircon I saw the Alloy Orchestra perform that a couple of times before the original keyboardist killed himself and it more than made up for the fact that about 45 minutes of the surviving footage is cut from that version.

Hooper_X (seriously, though, the miniature work on the city scenes is fucking tremendous. The little cars move in convincing flows, the planes do their thing, lights go on and off, it's like a model railroader's wet dream.)
