A zillion stars for being non-anime Japanese animation.
Quad9Damage Well the submission guidelines say "No *prolonged* nudity". Which I guess means nudity is allowed, just not a lot of it.
And at 0:40, did that woman's blood turn into bats?
Mad Struggle All japanese animation looked like this during the 50s, 60s & 70s. It wasn't until (IIRC) the late 80s that it started looking like the 'anime' you saw today.
Quad9Damage And I should also note that I've permanently associated certain names. When I see the name 'Belladona' in a title, I'm not thinking of anime.
Comeuppance Beads and short hair, I would imagine.
GravidWithHate I'm pretty sure they used the tune for this in "Kill Bill".
joffe b This is the third of three "erotic" anime movies produced by Osamu Tezuka's studio back in the 70s. The film itself is amazing with beautiful painted animation and music, but occasionally deeply, deeply disturbing.
MrBuddy "The Belladonna of Sadness is an adaptation of French historian Jules Michelet's novel of the story of Joan of Arc: La Sorcière." -anidb Sorry I just don't see Joan 'd Arc in that story, and it doesn't look much like Astroboy either. The 1970s sure had weird animation.
joffe b the movie was originally intended to be an adaption of La Sorciere, but was changed early in the production process. I don't know why the weaboos keep insisting saying that it is in every synopsis online. It instead supposedly deals with the socio-economic issues in La Sorciere viewed through a feminist lens (also: titties).
and no, it doesn't look like Astro Boy, but one of the other three movies in this series, Cleopatra, does!
Lurchi I was looking for something entirely unrelated and found this. Hooray for Youtube.
