Scorn from 1993-1996 was really something. I ended up selling all the albums, because they put me into a mental state I was spending a lot of time and money trying to escape. Ultimately, I think they were the band that broke me from a decade long admiration of Joy Division and their myriad followers.
Music should send you someplace else, but that place isn't for everyone.

Well put, Godot. There are times when Scorn is exactly what I want to listen to, and other times when it is exactly what I shouldn't be listening to.
Strange in hindsight that I became a fan when I was a full-on teetotaller - from what other friends of mine had to say at the time, this is the perfect music to accompany, say, DMT.

godot All I know about DMT I heard from the spoken word album "Dream Matrix Telemetry" by the late Terrence Mckenna and Zuvuya. Given a choice between DMT intelligent entities spawned by happy full-on psy-trance and those spawned by this, I think I'd take the psy.
Actually, this music has a some similarities with the ketamine house microgenre, which I can still listen to with little ill effect. The go-to album for that is the "Flora & Fauna" mix by Dominic Eulberg. His "Kreucht & Fleucht" is also delves in the genre.
