My high school team did one worse. It actually got featured on ESPN nationally. In key home game against our rivals, we were leading with a few seconds left, and had possession. One of the players fumbled and fell. His teammate caught the ball and, because everyone was leaving the field in celebration, tossed it. It bounced and was recovered.
It took our team nearly 30 seconds of celebrating and pouring the cooler over the coach until they turned around and realized they'd lost.
These stars are for the kid who was smart enough to realize the other kid was an idiot and picked up the ball. I can only imagine the shit the other kid got in the locker room.
That's not true. Twenty years from now, working at one of the 20 remaining Blockbuster stores for the then minimum wage of .26 plus 1% of the unit profit increase (i.e. negative .00 a month) he will blame this one incident for the wild spiral of failure that his life has become.
