Not only was this whole bit a sick burn on Glenn Beck, it completely obviated the need for Colbert.
Keefu - 2009-11-06
good lord shut up

RomancingTrain - 2009-11-06
If Colbert had to imitate Glenn Beck every day he would've had a Dave Chappellesque break down after 2 seasons.

NineEleven - 2009-11-06
"A sick burn."

mon666ster - 2009-11-06
I'd love to see Beck's response to this.
dementomstie - 2009-11-06
This was one of the best things I've seen The Daily Show do in its entire run. Or is it "It's entire run"? Damn it. I hate apostrophe s!
Tobster - 2009-11-06
"its" is the proper form to use in your sentence, "it's" is a contraction of "it" and "is", "its" is a possessive.

baleen - 2009-11-06

Commas and periods are always within quotations. Commas are only outside of quotations when they follow quoted phrases that are punctuated.

Examples:

"a contraction of 'it' and 'is,'"

and

"I hate apostrophe s![sic]", was quickly followed by disciplinary action from a poetv user.

Tobster - 2009-11-06
yes, but that is according to American punctuation rules, I'm Canadian and tend to follow British punctuation rules, which place commas and periods outside the quotation marks, unless the period or comma is part of the quotation.

baleen - 2009-11-06

I thought so.
I actually don't understand why we do it differently. British style seems to be intuitive, but I'm stuck with habit.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-11-07
There is justice.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-11-07
Ugh, not a reply. If you really wanted one...the wiki says it had to do with typesetter's tradition (to save space). But other countries have had movable type for a little while now, so I'm not sure how much I believe that.

Also, the PC liberal left wants it that way, and they get the activist judges to enforce their will.

RomancingTrain - 2009-11-06
Purity of Essence.
Keefu - 2009-11-06
bodily fluids

Runic - 2009-11-20
Yeah, Purity of Essence was what made it for me. I mean, it would be five stars without it, but I noticed that and the whole thing was bumped up to a whole other level of greatness.

fermun - 2009-11-06
This was amazing.
Smellvin - 2009-11-06
I don't think Glenn Beck is a professional comedian so much as a professional retard. Kind of like Chris-chan, except that he doesn't perform without people paying him.
manfred - 2009-11-06
Beck doesn't believe in his own crazy. He's an actor playing a role.

Charles - 2009-12-17
My god, you're right. He's a double-agent. And he's in the PERFECT POSITION to humiliate the far right in the U.S.! WHY DOESN'T HE TAKE IT???

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2009-11-06
How was anyone able to see this? All I see is a gray box.
Bort - 2009-11-06
http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-5-2009/the-11-3-pro ject

I get the gray box too, from within the Continental US, so I don't know. But this seems to be the it.

VoilaIntruder - 2009-11-06
Gray box as well, thanks for the hyperlink.

Also, this toes the line between what is funny and what is real just as well as Colbert on a good day.

spencer - 2009-11-06
For the fellow Canucks: http://watch.thecomedynetwork.ca/#clip230565

And I totally agree, this is one of the best things that ever came out of the Daily Show. Such a perfect send-up, all the right notes exaggerated to just the right degree. The final line is perfection (I won't spoil)
Desidiosus - 2009-11-06
Thanks very much, I would have hated to have missed that.

Dicknuts - 2009-11-06
Apparently Kansans can't view it either. All I get is a gray box, and the Canada link don't work for me. I guess that's what we get for being so lame.

memedumpster - 2009-11-06
I got grayboxed too from within the USA. I have a theory that this show isn't available in red states.

ProfessorChaos - 2009-11-06
Grey Box in Massachusetts. So, apparently not.

James Woods - 2009-11-07
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Spence.

Judging by the reactions I might as well 5 star it now, to save making an extra trip.

crotchy - 2009-11-06
totally worth the hassle of ip/proxy jiggery pokery
Xenocide - 2009-11-06
Jon Stewart's crowning moment.
Meerkat - 2009-11-06
Fortunately I DVR'd this, so I can watch it again and again.
Longshot- - 2009-11-06
Brilliant!
MaulLove - 2009-11-06
Perfect portrayal of Beck's histrionics. I'm in awe of Stewart's acting skills now.
VoilaIntruder - 2009-11-06
You weren't after Death to Smoochy?

Nikon - 2009-11-06
Brilliant. The only way he could be more like Glenn Beck is to travel back in time to 1990 and then rape/murder a young girl.
VoilaIntruder - 2009-11-06
I heard about that.

Herr Matthias - 2009-11-06
Yeah, I'm hearing more and more every day about Glenn Beck raping and murdering that young girl in 1990. I think he should get the chair.

simon666 - 2009-11-06
To be fair, guys, right now this is only a rumor, that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990; there is no evidence of this. However, it really begs the question, if it is not true, why are so many people talking about how Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990, and why isn't he denying these charges if they are false?

William Burns - 2009-11-06
I'm not saying that I believe the rumors, necessarily. All I'm saying is keep Glenn Beck away from MY young girls, small pets and enfeebled geriatrics!

kingarthur - 2009-11-06
I also heard about how he hasn't stopped beating his wife.

kingofthenothing - 2009-11-06
I heard his housekeeper caught him masturbating to Silence Of The Lambs.

mashedtater - 2009-11-07
she wont cook fried chicken now because of that "incident"

Syd Midnight - 2009-11-11
It's one of those jokes that gets so beaten to death it becomes funny again

Ponasty - 2009-11-06
Just watched this over on Hulu.
Perfect.
GravidWithHate - 2009-11-06
The only thing this is missing is the extreme close up on the crazy eyes.
Maggot Brain - 2009-11-07
Purity of Essence.
j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-11-07
"I just love (put something here) so much..., and I fear for it."

NOW YOU TOO CAN DO A FIVE SECOND GLENN BECK IMPERSONATION!
pastorofmuppets - 2009-11-07
don't forget to bite your fist

IrishWhiskey - 2010-04-22
You can also say "I just love America so much..., and I fear for it" regardless of the topic. For example:

"This government wants to tell you... to tell you not to put razor blades in apples. They want to tell you what you can and can't feed to Children! I'm sorry I'm crying its just... I just love America so much..., and I fear for it."
