It'd be cool for a comedian to make post-mortem skits that will be extra hilarious released after their death, but unless you're very unlucky you'd have to keep re-recording them every fe wyears to stay contemporary.
The only post-mortem skit I ever saw was a Yul Brynner anti-smoking ad, where he's all "I'm dead now because smoking killed me, oh God don't smoke it sucks that I'm dead argh"

godot Carlin had some funny routines, but like many of the other members of the comedy pantheon (incl Bruce, Hicks, Hicks II (Cross)), he gets a LOT of credit for subpar material because we agree with him.
