tmavomodry I think it's a play on words of sorts. Jersey Guidos idolize the Gotti crime family, I assume because they are both wealthy and total trash, but with their accent Gotti is pronounced "GAWdy". I'm not 100% if they understand what the word "gaudy" means or if they intend to invoke that meaning when they use the term, but this really is the best (and only) example of Guidos being clever.
