This is the one and only time Hanna Barbera tried to be creative with a character, and so it throws the viewer for a loop. I remember one episode where Shazzan was trapped in a cage, and the simplest escape would have been to just shrink and slip between the bars. Instead he turned himself into a conga line of tiny Shazzans and marched out in step. Again, style.
