cognitivedissonance Yeah, that was after about two years of Nintendo continually pushing back the release date so as not to conflict with other franchise releases. Conker's Bad Fur Day is a fantastic example of why creative people should be allowed time to actually do things.
Harveyjames It's more like South Park came out and made millions through merchandising, so they decided to copy that while also copying Mario 64. It's one incredibly successful franchise smooshed with another. But it's not funny OR fun to play.
Harveyjames I guess this video is interesting though. I guess I'm one-starring the false idea that that was a good game more than I am the video. This stuff really isn't that important. I need to unwind and do something I enjoy!
themilkshark Yah, way to piss in the cornflakes duder.
garcet71283 We just all need to come the realization that Rare hasn't made a good game since Goldeneye

Viva Pinata and Banjo Nuts and Bolts are at least creative and look good (Rare seems to have got over their nice-engine-ruined-by-terrible-art hump). I haven't played either so I can't vouch for their gameplay, but I'm guessing it's deathly dull and overflowing with filler.
I wasn't going to rate the video, but I felt bad for Harveyjames' hasty one-star, so here you go.
RocketBlender I remember Conker being a happy, kid-friendly racer featured in Diddy Kong Racing. If only they knew at the time where the franchise was headed...
fluffy I think one of the underlying jokes throughout most of BFD is that Conker was actually still trying to be like that but he was just stuck in a world that didn't allow the possibility. Okay, he starts out piss drunk and vomiting in a back alley or whatever but other than that he seemed to want to be good and happy and helpful, and it's only after a billion bullshit quests that wear him down that he turns into Alex from Clockwork Orange.
Although I'm probably misremembering. I really should re-play the game someday.
themilkshark Bad Fur Day is one of a rare crop of games I'm willing to play through again. It was really well done for an N64 game, I'd love to play the Xbox version.
Quad9Damage Wasn't there also a Gameboy Color/Advance game that made him cute and kid-friendly again?
themilkshark The GBA Conker game predates BFD, and yeah it's a kid's game.
