I think his reasoning for this was the scene from Silence of the Lambs after Lecter took out the two cops who were guarding him. Foley was impressed by the tranquility of the music playing juxtaposed with the imagery of the gore-splattered Dr. Lecter and wanted to convey that same kind of eerie feeling of mellowness after the chaos that was always one of his matches.

He saved his career from what could have been a really shitty gimmick. McMahon originally wanted to call the it Mason the Mutilator. Of course McMahon also would have allowed Steve Austin to have been called Chilly McFreeze.
