I had to play the first part three times. The dialog was so beautiful....

"Wuthering Heights? It's over the top. I mean anyone can write one of those things. It's just a question of letting your imagination go bananas. Jesus. You want that kind of novel? I can knock it off for you in 24 hours."

Looks good. Thanks!

good isn't really the word, despite having an amazing supporting cast. Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and John Carradine couldn't save this movie from offering many flinches, still. It's a good time killer.

BTW, good channel:

Vincent Price, in an interview I'm hard-pressed to find now, said that the film was meant to be a black comedy but that it was badly edited in an attempt to make it a more straight-up horror film (and added flat-out that the editor was stupid). The time I saw it my feeling was that the editing basically meant handing over more screentime to Desi Arnaz Jr,. who is NOT the reason anyone would want to watch this to begin with.

It had a terrific movie poster, a copy of which graces the wall of my front room.

It's obviously meant to be an homage to The Old Dark House, the James Whale classic, which is a dark comedy (and a very funny one). That choice is obvious enough from the effort they put into rounding up such a legendary cast. I can see what they were going for and where they went terribly wrong.
