Southern Baptism is Christianity in the same way that Nazisim is socialism.
Baptists are a pretty diverse group in American Christian terms.
As someone from Kentucky, I would like to point out that the rest of the state usually disavows Pikeville and it's general environs.
As a side note, Pikeville is where the McCoy's of the Hatfield-McCoy feud are from.
anything that hastens the irrelevance and eventual disintegration of such churches is okay with me

"Well, we can't say no negros no more, so how about, no negros iffin' they're married to a white woman?"
Oh my. I don't have access to sound at the moment. Please tell me they used the "morality" and "what will our children think/what will we be teaching out children if we mind our own business?" defense for their ban.
"Sorry, Dear, but your father and I aren't banned. We're going to keep attending church there because those are the right kind of people -- unlike the people in that Southern Baptist Free Will Church two blocks away."

So when is Herman Cain scheduled to campaign here?
You rock, jangbones! As soon as I read this story I looked for a video to submit and failed. I was so happy to see this in the hopper. You made the sun shine bright on my old Kentucky home.
Also, fuck Kentucky, I officially want the hell out of this shithole state.
If they allow mixed-race marriages, next thing you know they'll have to let non-siblings marry too.
The backpedaling on this is amazing.
"I'm not racist in any way shape or form. I just don't think black are humans so basically they should be allowed anything, really. BUT I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT A RACIST!"

Free Will* Church
*People found exercising free will outside of church remit will be denied access to church.
You look at the letter, and they penciled in "or other church functions". Glad to see they covered all their bases.
Ex-pastor, who left for "health reasons" first tells Stella that Ticha can't sing at their church anymore, then keeps insisting the church vote on interracial marriages until they finally do. The church votes 9-6 against interracial marriage.
"Ballots were cast after the service, attended by about 35 to 40 people, but it wasn’t clear why so few people voted."
Yeah, I'm guessing it had something to do with them saying, "The fact alone that we have brought to a vote whether or not we will allow interracial marriage among our members is enough to make us terrible people. Fuckin' hell, LET IT DROP ALREADY, MELVIN THOMPSON."
OR maybe they were women and excluded themselves because votin' be a man's job.
