Believe it or not, Top Cat is huge in latin america, i mean HUGE. It's a cult show and it has been that way for decades. This is an Argentina-Mexico-UK production.
Seems that the mix of the latin american dub using local slang, and the love for characters that are "from the streets" is what gave the appeal to LA audiences.
That's like Swedes and Donald Duck comics. It seemed every Swede I met had a secret stash of Donald Duck comics in a box in a closet.
That is one of the weirdest styles of animation I've ever seen. I kind of like it, but I'd find it really distracting the entire time I watched it.
Basically it's the 2D characters over the 3D backgrounds. They don't blend as well as they could.
This works a million times better than say, the Yogi Bear movie.
Taking an iconic 2-D character and then re-designing them with realistic fur, dilating irises, etc always baffles me.
Top Cat is awesome!

I wanted to hate this but I can't. Curse you Top Cat for being so endearing.
A surprising number of people can't name Top Cat's cronies without Googling it. Yet another indication of our cultural decline.
How many must I be able to name if I don't want to be considered a philistine?
The current U.S. Citizenship test requires that you name two of them.
5 estrellas basurientas para Don Gato.
This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
"In 3D for some reason"
2D looks pretty cool in 3D. Nice pop-up-book effect.
What a way to bookend this trailer. The first joke and the last joke are the same joke.
The entire movie is just people reciting old adages and being ironically interrupted.
Like the part where Benny the Ball says "Well, you know what they say: you can't rape the willi-"
...by popular demand...
one of my favourites
Top Cat was probably the best thing to come out of Hanna Barbera.
This is less impressive when you consider the rest of the things that came out of Hanna Barbera.
I'm absolutely amazed this is getting a theatrical release in multiple countries.
I'm even more amazed Mexicans made it.
I can't imagine it getting a theatrical release in the US though. Not without failing miserably at the box office anyway.

Only Latin animation could feature so many characters with bedroom eyes.
