I think they might've actually played live on occasion, I remember Tony James (the closest thing they had to a professional musician) talking about the noticeable audio latency of the goofy MIDI bass guitar he had in live performances.
Sigue Sigue Sputnik was fascinating, really. It almost seems like it was a bunch of dumb fucks accidentally coming up with a po-mo concept that was the perfect culmination of the 80's, then becoming too caught up in their own spectacle to get anywhere with it.
