I really don't get the appeal of Tony Millionaire or Maakies, unless one is as high/drunk as he is when you read it. I don't fault his art, and good on him for preserving that whole 19th century political cartoon stuff, but it's just not amusing to me, even in a "well, that was a trainwreck" sort of way.
I almost think it's liked for its lack of humor, almost as if it's so underground that if it were funny, it wouldn't have any appeal for its fans.

Shoebox Joe The best I can give is if you still get a rise out of blue collar humor and love the surreal and almost depressing, dry dark tones being spun in a non chalant drunken crass voice that says "sit down, shut up and laugh for God's sake!" That's how you enjoy him. I'm stretching here due to not doing alot of research with the analogy, but it's as if Vonnegut's bitterness being embraced by Salvidor Dali's off the wall expose.
I don't mind him. He has some clever comics and I do love the style.
