I always thought it would be a mixed blessing to have Johnny Cash cover one of your songs.
On one hand, holy shit! Johnny Cash just covered one of your songs!

On the other hand, he just performed your own song better than you could ever hope to.

This was on that first JC record that Rick Rubin produced. At the time there wasn't an asshole in Nashville that would touch Cash for a record. Rubin made some great recordings of JC. This sooo kicks ass. Nashville still doesn't have a clue what good music is. Just how to make big bucks on the same rubes that think Sarah Palin would make a pretty good president.
