I find it hilarious that both this, and Imitation of Life (which came out a year before this) featured main characters who were supposedly equal parts black and white, but the actresses chosen were lily white aryan women. Were there not any mulattoes in the business back then?
Ah well, at least Imitation of Life made sure everyone else in the movie was blonde with blue eyes, to contrast the brunette playing the "passing" half-black girl.
I remember one where two women raped a man and one of the actress who played one of the alleged rapists ended up playing the District Attorney for several seasons later on.
SVU is particularly bad about thoughtlessly recycling actors.
I remember being told by an old member of the sons of confederate veterans that James Meredith was not the first black student at ole miss and should not be celebrated because there was another student in the 20s there who was able to pass for white. Never mind that had anyone found out he was Mulatto or anything he'd have been lynched back then even if he did exist, this apparently was some secret liberal conspiracy to deny how progressive or whatever conservatives at ole miss really were. He also believed in black confederate soldiers.
